Research Interest
By collecting environmental DNA (eDNA) from seawater and applying metabarcoding we want to unravel fish and cephalopod communities in the Deep Ocean and their role in trophic interactions, with a heavy focus on deep-diving cetaceans. Additionally, we apply deep-sea observation systems with low-light cameras and optical lures to film deep-sea pelagic fauna, in particular cephalopods.
