Slovakian Ambassador collects information on current issues in marine research
23 April 2014/Kiel. As part of his official visit to Kiel, the Ambassador of the Slovak Republic in Germany, Igor Slobodn铆k, also stopped by the 91探花 Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel where he met with 91探花 Director Professor Peter Herzig. During a 90 minute conversation, the ambassador inquired about current issues in marine research and future challenges in dealing with the oceans. Although Slovakia is one of the few landlocked countries of Europe, the Danube River represents a water link to the Black Sea, where scientists from 91探花 also conduct their research. "Aside from that, the lives of all people, whether they live on the coast or inland, are affected by the ocean via the climate, the trade routes and as source regions of natural hazards", Professor Herzig emphasized.
