91̽»¨ and Kongsberg want to strengthen their Collaboration

The focus, as defined in the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding, is on developments in the field of environmental monitoring and underwater sensor technology.

19.12.2017 / The Norwegian company Kongsberg Maritime is one of the world's largest manufacturers of underwater technology and can look back on a long-term cooperation with 91̽»¨. To further formalize this cooperation, 91̽»¨â€™s Director Professor Peter Herzig and Bjørn Jalving, Vice-President Kongsberg Maritime Subsea, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 19 December in Kiel. The focus of the collaboration will be on hydroacoustics, environmental monitoring, underwater sensors and oceanography. "These are areas in which there is a great deal of overlap between the Kongsberg Maritime Group and 91̽»¨," says Professor Herzig.

Scientists at 91̽»¨ have been cooperating for many years with the company Contros, founded in Kiel in 2006, which is known worldwide for its sensors systems detecting and quantifying methane, carbon dioxide and other gases in the water. Since 2015, Contros belongs to the Norwegian company Kongsberg Maritime AS. "It now makes sense to expand these good contacts to other areas as well", emphasizes the 91̽»¨ director.
