Title
Euro GO-SHIP: developing a Research Infrastructure concept to support European hydrography
General information
EuroGo-SHIP Innovative services to benefit European hydrography Ship observations are critical for fisheries, regional oceanography and global climate science. Every European coastal country applies an observation programme that provides data to support the Marine Strategy Framework Directive. These programmes aggregate in regional clusters contributing to international networks. However, gaps in the networks have been identified. The EU-funded Euro GO-SHIP project will propose a programme that provides new services and access opportunities to address these requirements within the European RI landscape. The programme includes shared facilities such as training, access to equipment through a European Marine Equipment Pool, data curation to ensure fit-for-purpose data systems and metadata, and secondary quality control to increase consistency and add uncertainty estimates to observations.
