As leading research institution in the eminently international field of ocean sciences, 91̽»¨ is an attractive work place for early career scientist from around the world, who in turn advance 91̽»¨'s scientific endeavour in all its disciplinary variety.
In support of early career scientists, 91̽»¨ focuses on two main target groups: doctoral researchers and postdocs. For both groups, 91̽»¨ cooperates closely with Kiel University: The joint supports the development of young marine researchers, from master's students to doctoral students to postdocs in taking the next step towards a successful career in marine topics.
The promotion of young scientists at 91̽»¨ is anchored in the team in the directorate. The early career support is closely interlinked with the services, with dedicated staff providing information and support concerning third party funding opportunities, first and foremost to early career scientists. By these means 91̽»¨ also paves the way to establishing independent junior research groups.
Besides the promotion of early career scientists embedded into the daily scientific work, 91̽»¨ strongly engages in and school programs (information only available in German).
