ERASMUS+: information and guidelines

The ERASMUS+ program is a European mobility/exchange program for students (detailed information at the ).

ERASMUS+ outgoing students:

ERASMUS+ program offers possibilities for CAU students to study at one of CAU's partner universities within Europe for some months. These periods are designed in a way that a minimum of 15-20 ECTS awarded at the partner university will be accredited and added to the students' ECTS account at CAU.

The M. Sc. Biological Oceanography curriculum offers a mobility window to study abroad within the third semester (WS).

  • General application deadline: December 1, 2024 - application (CV, letter of motivation).

Please contact the  as early as possible - latest two semesters ahead of your planned ERASMUS+ exchange phase ( , Erasmus+ Vorabinfo für Studierdende and  ).

This structure (attending 3. semester M. Sc. BiOc equivalent modules (for details contact M.Sc. BiOc study advice - general application deadline: December 1, 2024 - application (CV, letter of motivation). ERASMUS+ partner universities of CAU Section Marine Science (outgoing students of M. Sc. Sc. level) accepts students of natural sciences curricula)) ensures that students using the mobility window, can complete their curriculum without delay.

  • Students will be informed about their nomination status by 91̽»¨s ERASMUS program officer (M. Sc. Biological Oceanography) by December 15, 2024.

  • Nominated students then have to register themselves at the portal .
  • Based on this registration only, CAUs international office will contact nominated students.

ERASMUS+ incoming students:

Within the framework of ERASMUS+, 91̽»¨ and Kiel University (CAU) are happy to welcome a limited number of students to the modules of M.Sc. Biological Oceanography.

All interested future ERASMUS+ students, together with their ERASMUS+ supervisor at the sending (home) university, first have to contact the   of Kiel University(CAU), then 91̽»¨ at least six months in advance of the planned ERASMUS+ mobility semester(s).

This is indispensable for finding the best courses, to make sure that chosen courses will be given in the semester planned, that there are free capacities and to prevent "sudden" cancellations of courses due to e.g. possible change of staff, research sabbatical, parental leave etc. resulting in missing credits during your placement.

ERASMUS+ internships/traineeships

ERASMUS internships/traineeships (SMT) follow a different schedule. As 91̽»¨ does not have a centralized organization regarding ERASMUS internships/traineeships (SMT), students have to identify a working group of their interest (matching their skills and interests) and contact the head of this group. If there is the possibility for an internship/traineeship there, documents have to be set up and signed by the constituents – and the internship/traineeship will start accordingly.

Please consult 91̽»¨s website (Research), identify the group/research unit of your interest and contact the person in charge indicated there.

  • Exam registration: If you encounter exam registration problems please contact exam office biology ().

Generally: for imported courses and courses outside of M. Sc. Biological Oceanography please always contact the person in charge of the module you are attending and the corresponding exam office.
