NextGEMS: Next Generation Earth Modelling Systems
nextGEMS (next Generation Earth Modelling Systems, dt: Erdsystemmodelle der nächsten Generation) ist ein europäisches Projekt. Finanziert durch das EU-Programm Horizont 2020, nutzt es das Fachwissen aus vierzehn Ländern, um zwei global gekoppelte sturmauflösende Erdsystemmodelle (Storm-Resolving Earth System Models (SR-ESMs)) zu entwickeln. Dank bahnbrechender realistischer Simulationen werden uns diese Modelle ermöglichen, zu verstehen und zuverlässig zu quantifizieren, wie sich das Klima auf globaler und regionaler Ebene verändern wird und wie das Wetter, einschließlich seiner Extremereignisse, in Zukunft aussehen wird.
