Abstract:
Over the past 2 decades, the AMOC has been continuously observed by first one, and then multiple moored arrays. From these arrays we have gained a wealth of understanding about the large-scale Atlantic circulation, dominant processes and鈥攖o some extent鈥攖imescales of variability. I鈥檒l give a brief overview of the observations to date, what we鈥檝e learned, and the questions still open regarding methods of measuring transports, sources of variability, meridional connectivity, key processes. I鈥檒l also outline a few opportunities to answer a subset of these questions.
