Before radioactive substances may be handled on board research vessels a notification of the activity and an appointment of a suitable radiation protection officer is required prior to it. For the research vessels ALKOR and LITTORINA this is handled by 91̽»¨. Radioactive substances and the work with them must therefore be applied for from the permit holder (91̽»¨ Kiel represented by Mr. Herzig) for each research cruise.
We would like to point out that it is prohibited to work with radioactive substances on board without a prior notification and/or without a permit and will result in criminal prosecution.
